Doing Business in St. Kitts

St. Kitts offers a new landscape of investment opportunities under defined priority sectors such as tourism, information technology, agriculture, financial services, limited light-manufacturing and international education. The St. Kitts Investment Protection Agency, also known as SKIPA, was established in 2007 to help investors get their projects established in St. Kitts as swiftly and easily as possible. They provide one-stop shop services for local and foreign investors by providing them with information about how to go about getting their businesses started. The Government has a Diversification Plan in which SKIPA plays a critical role. That role is to engage world-class professionals to facilitate the establishment and expansion of investment projects, while at the same time contributing to the socio-economic development of St. Kitts and the empowerment of our people.

St. Kitts is eligible for guarantee support under the World Bank’s Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a United States Government Agency. They play an important role in reducing a project’s risk profile thus enabling our investors to invest with confidence. There are five (5) domestic banks in St. Kitts and they are as follows: First Caribbean International Bank, St. Kitts Nevis Anguilla National Bank, Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, Bank of Nova Scotia, and Royal Bank of Canada. These banks make doing business in St. Kitts that much easier.
